Falstaff by bolsterstone Falstaff by bolsterstone
This is why I've never been easy with Photoshop. It was my goal to polish off some pictures on some Shakespearean characters this past week during Spring Break. This one is loosely based on Kevin Kline's interpretation of the character (in Henry IV, Part I). While I got the character down (got it down to close to "real" or at least as real as my Impressionist inclinations go), doing the details on the background was driving me crazy. I'll probably be coming back to my favourite beer swilling, party-hardy, woman loving mischief maker later on.

Hours: too many

Tools: Photoshop CS2

Ah, Falstaff is a fat, fat man. XD

Lovely job here, I really like your style. You capture him and his personality very well, I think.

Bravissimo! Sir Falstaff is one of my favorite characters. It is he that sings the praises of life in the picture! His expressive look especially attracts me. Thank you for the great work :)

P.S Have you ever heard G.Verdi's one? I love both of Falstaff.

Thanks and I am glad that you like it. I've loved both the Shakespearean version and the Verdi one. (I love comic opera and of course any good character that has a love of life.:beer::love:) Come to think of it, I really should return to my Shakespearean themes.

photoshop's brushes are so rough and hard to smothen later on. I understand the kind of labour it is to get such a result with it.

This picture has the charm of a painting, and i like the colors and style. A worthy fav for my collection. =)

Hmmm...interesting idea...you mean along the lines of what you have in your gallery for your Liv Tyler or Namarie? I might just try that. (Out of respect for my watchers though, I'd probably try and put the parts in one downloadable image. ;-) )

this one came together quite lovely.

Theres certain sense of warmth and joviality in the old mans face that u were able to convey quite well in this pic.

Or maybe he just reminds me of Santa Claus . o

Thanks. I have to confess that I am still building up my Photoshop skills -- I'm finding that working in digital media is quite different from traditional. I'm glad that it came out good enough that you like it .

Thanks -- the problem is now I can do the people, but now I need to practice getting the backgrounds. It never ends. :-)
